Hello, my name is Anna. My last name...I don't seem to remember it, much less care for what it is. I'm human from what I can tell. Although, I do have something other humans don't; a living shadow. She's been with me all my life. We do many things together...well...she can't talk but she does try to entertain. I reside in my office most of the time. I'm a witch, as most people call it, but I am far from a threat. In fact, I sell herbal medicines from my office. If anything I want to help others.
“You two are going to live with us and that’s final.” Anna didn’t sound like she was going to take no for an answer.
Zohara didn’t really flinch, but she stared at Anna with a very confused expression. Why was everything so confusing? Why did people leave her, come back, and suddenly demand to take care of her? She sighed and looked down at Dana. “I-… Alright…”
Anna stood up, helping Zohara up with her. She looked to the baby. “What’s her name?”
“… Dana.” Zohara watched Anna. “Her name is Dana.”
Anna smiled a little. “That’s a lovely name.” She still felt quite upset that she wasn’t there for Zohara, but now wasn’t the time to be in tears. Calmly, she started walking towards her home, leading Zohara.
“You two are going to live with us and that’s final.” Anna didn’t sound like she was going to take no for an answer.

Anna stood up, helping Zohara up with her. She looked to the baby. “What’s her name?”
Anna’s face got stern. “Zohara. You’re ill and getting worse, I can see it. If you continue this way Dana will lose you.”
“Then she will go to somebody better suited for motherhood, and somebody who won’t have to raise her alone… And bring to her the curse of being alone.” Her voice got quiet.
“You two are going to live with us and that’s final.” Anna didn’t sound like she was going to take no for an answer.
Anna could feel herself shaking, a barrage of emotions coursing through her. She couldn’t figure out what to say, her mind going blank. “Zohara…” All she could manage to get out was her name. What was she going to do?
“That isn’t true. Those who have left you…including me, are the terrible friends. I was foolish to leave without telling you…” Anna leaned back a bit to get a look at her again. She could see how sickly looking Zohara was. “…Zohara you cannot live like this. You need to stay healthy for your child…come, you and your baby will stay with Shadow and I.”
All Zohara did was stare at her.
“I don’t want to be a burden on you, though… I-.. I’m managing fine… Dana is healthy…”
Anna’s face got stern. “Zohara. You’re ill and getting worse, I can see it. If you continue this way Dana will lose you.”
Zohara’s lips parted slightly, but she made no sound for several seconds.“Why are you sorry…? It isn’t my decision who stays with me and who does not. They all decided they no longer wished to see me and i’ve… No right to be upset. People come and go. I am not a very good friend, anyways..” the demon glanced down at her baby, who was quiet and asleep now. “… My only regret would be not being good enough to keep around…”

Anna was, nonetheless, shocked to see Zohara had a child. She took a step forward. “Zohara? It’s me, Anna. I know that I’ve been gone for several months and..” She stopped, looking to the ground. “I wanted to apologize…”Zohara looked away. Anna? She said nothing. She wasn’t angry, she was… Numb and cold. And tired, but she couldn’t sleep. she had to watch over Dana.
How long had it been since she slept..? She couldn’t remember. Probably not since Dana was born.
“Anna… You don’t have to apologize… Nobody else has. They’ve all left me. Even Vergil… H-… He left me all alone with a baby and… He never even saw her. He isn’t here anymore, he doesn’t… Love me anymore… My daddy is gone, all my friends forgot about me… I-… I don’t blame you…. For not telling me.”
Anna’s eyes started to sting, tears starting to well up in her eyes. What had happened while she was gone? Her heart dropped when she heard that everyone had left her. What had she done? Anna had…been absent when Zohara needed her and now she…oh God she had to help her.
She quickly went over and dropped to her knees next to Zohara, draping her arms carefully around her. Tears started to stain her cheeks. “No…I was gone when you needed me most…I’m so, so sorry…”
